BOOK REVIEW: WHAT’S FOR DINNER? MOSH POTATOES!

It’s that time of year again.  The time when all of us let out a collective groan at the upcoming holidays and think, “How can I get out of cooking Thanksgiving/Christmas/Chanukah dinner at my house?  or  What in the hell am I going to feed everybody for a week?”  Why?  Because most of us are crazy busy, are far from gourmet chefs and need some inspiration perhaps.  Some may fancy themselves just “too cool” too cook.  No matter what the reason, we have the answer for you my little head banging friends…

If you want some kickass recipes from some of the biggest, badass musicians on the planet, then you need a big heaping scoop of Mosh Potatoes: Anecdotes And Mayhem From The Heavyweights Of Heavy Metal by Steve “Buckshot” Seabury.
In the book compiled by Seabury, big-named rockers such as  Zakk Wylde, Lamb Of God, Guns N’ Roses, Lemmy,  Alice Cooper and Queensryche have all contributed their favourite cooking recipes.

The book is divided into “Opening Acts” (appetizers), “Headliners” (entrees), and “Encores” (desserts) and features 147 recipes including  “Party Potatoes” from Tyler Connolly of Theory of a Deadman, “Orange Tequila Shrimp” from Joey Belladonna of Anthrax (complete with margarita instructions), “Italian Spaghetti Sauce and Meatballs” from Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society (a homemade family dish), “Krakatoa Surprise” from Lemmy of Motörhead (God help us all), and “Star Cookies” from Dave Ellefson of Megadeth – just to name a few.  Yes, you can thank me later.

Mosh Potatoes comes complete with a monster serving of backstage stories, the musician’s tale behind each recipe and other delicious goodies that are sure to delight the appetite of any metal-loving fan – young or old.

The book is available online at Simon & Schuster for $12.99 or $11.99 as an e-book download.  Check out the page here where you can buy it, browse inside (snag some recipes while you’re there) and watch a promo video showing pics of a lot of the contributors cooking their recipes at home.

So, now that your arguments about your culinary prowess are completely invalid – quit your bitching about not knowing what to cook, man (or girl) the f*ck up, put on an apron and get your ass in the kitchen!   Oh yes…Happy Holidays to all.  <pouring cocktail>
