Los Angeles based THE DREAMING is releasing their latest LP entitled Rise Again February 10,2015 via Metropolis Records. This is their third studio effort after Etched In Blood (2008, Dream Corpse) and Puppet (2011, Epochal, FOF).

Rise Again is a perfect segue from previous Puppet, keeping that hard-driving, alternative industrial sound.  As predicted, their sound incorporates rock, electronic, dark wave, in emotional rock ‘n’ roll. Although the lyrics are thoughtful, and the production of the music is excellent, there is not much variation from song to song.  Nevertheless, if you are a fan of The Dreaming’s previous albums or Stabbing Westward, The Rising will not disappoint.  Top tracks are ‘Alone’ the first video and single, ‘Kisses Taste Like Death’, ‘The Blink of an Eye’ and ‘Destroy’. ‘Kisses Taste Like Death’ is the heaviest, most guitar driven with a peculiar title; ‘The Blink of an Eye’ also very heavy guitar driven with lyrics that force you to listen and ponder life; and ‘Destroy’ the most creative of all songs on the album with excellent industrial blending of guitar and keyboards, stimulating time changes and breaks, creating a wall of sound with accentuating digital sound bites and noises.

The Dreaming is a reunion of American industrial rock band Stabbing Westward’s founding members Christopher Hall (lead singer) and Walter Flakus (keyboards, programming) along with the one-time Stabbing Westward drummer Johnny Haro. The band is rounded out with Deadsy / Orgy guitarist Carlton Bost and bassist Brent Ashley from Static X.

  1. I can’t wait for this!!! SW helped me many years ago get through a bad divorce. I focus on music to get me through bad points in my life. Been following the Dreaming since SW broke up and again….helped me. Chris has an amazing voice and his lyrics really hit home

  2. As stated, this is a Stabbing Westward reunion of sorts which rings true in the pre-released single “Alone”. As a continuous fan of Stabbing Westward, then The Dreaming after that, I can not even express how psyched I am for THIS new album… Especially one that brings back Stabbing Westward’s iconic sound and chemistry!!! I hope this, once again vaults Chris and Walter back to the top. Chris has definitely his paid his dues and has never lost faith in what he is doing. Many fans have done the same with him in The Dreaming! This should be a sonic feast for the fans of old AND new alike!! Cant wait until my copy is in hand!
