Seven Baseball Songs To Get You Through to the World Series…

Hello, rock and rollers and baseball fans alike! We here at RockRevolt have caught a little bit of baseball fever, and as we sat around our virtual watercooler, we decided a little celebration of America’s Greatest Pastime is in order. So, we present to you: Seven Songs To Get You Through to the World Series…

  1. “Glory Days” – Bruce Springsteen. We would be remiss to dismiss this classic track about days gone by, reminiscing with old high school chums (who doesn’t love that!?), and going down to the well tonight and drinkin’ till we get our fill…

2. “Tessie” – Dropkick Murphys. Even though they aren’t headed into the big show this year, when this song comes on, everyone becomes a little bit of a Red Sox fan. You can’t deny the passion behind the lyrics, “Don’t blame us if we ever doubt you. You know we couldn’t live without you. Red Sox, you are the only, only, only…” Maybe next year, folks. Until then….

3. “All The Way” – Eddie Vedder. Everyone knows that Mr. Vedder is a diehard Cubs fan, but no one could have expected that his beloved team would be not heading into the Series this year. In this tribute song, celebrating their big win last year, we hope you Cubbies fans find some solace. There is always next year.

4. “Beat on the Brat” – The Ramones. While this song doesn’t carry the most uplifting message, the words “baseball bat” appear, and that makes it good enough for us!

5. “Love is Like a Baseball Game” – The Intruders. Oh, the love song equating the game of love to a love for the game, am I right? “Love is just like a baseball game, three strikes you’re out.” The Intruders had one hell of a smash with this little ditty tying a game to an emotion, but isn’t that all that we try to do anyway?

6. “The Baseball Boogie” – The 1986 Dodgers. For those of us old enough to remember this classic, it’s a fun throwback to when athletes were allowed to have a little fun, let their hair down, and really have a good time without needing massive security just to hang out and dance with some fans. Also, this proves that you don’t need a good singing voice to have a good time, something I have been trying to convince my friends of for years…

7. “Centerfield” – John Fogerty. This cult classic isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Every baseball player from the little leagues to the majors has this song permanently embedded into their DNA. For frequent game-going or watching fans, it can be a little annoying, a lot of the time, but man, all Fogerty wanted to do was play centerfield, damnit! So, it makes the list.
