LIVE: HOLYGRAM

Holygram is music for the lost, with a sound that blends post-punk and new wave with Krautrock and shoegaze elements into a headstrong, multi-layered and thoroughly contemporary homage to the sound of the 1980s, including a resolute look to the future: driving, dark and full of catchy moments.

Holygram embarked on their first USA tour opening for alternative electronic project VNV Nation this year, and one of the last dates landed the German band in the heart of Los Angeles at the famous Wiltern Theater. Iconically situated between Western and Wilshire, the Wiltern hosts a slew of legendary acts inside of its historic Art Deco walls. The actual concert hall within the venue features a rather spacious stage amongst its ornate decor, one that Holygram fit into perfectly.

Playing to a rather packed room, Holygram brought their European flare to the evening, performing music off of their debut album Modern Cults. The performance featured immensely skilled musicianship blanketed in beautiful saturated lights amidst fog. The music brilliantly filled the theater and enticed each and every audience member, leaving many wishing for more long after the band had walked off of the stage. For most, this was a brand new introduction to the band, and the act certainly made some new fans that eve!
