WATCH THE VIDEO PREMIERE OF “PARAMOUR” BY DORYDRIVE!

The saying goes that “good things comes to those who wait” and thankfully, the wait is finally over!

We are so excited to premiere the highly anticipated video by the Nashville, TN quintet DoryDrive for the song entitled “Paramour” from their 2012 debut album, Calling On Angels.

When we were told that the premiere date would be on April 23, that was all fine and good. But when we watched it, well we just could not keep the fans waiting, so we’re rolling this bad boy out at 12:01 a.m. because who the hell wants to wait until the “real” morning? Not anyone!

Directed by Joshua David, “Paramour” is a Freudian visual masterpiece, which tells the story of a troubled young couple (played by DD lead singer Mathieu Nevitt and Trisha Lynn) who’s emotional wreck of a relationship is observed by a somewhat masochistic femme fatale (played by Lauren Kriste).

Lead singer Mathieu Nevitt elaborated, “The concept of the video came from Joshua. We loved the idea of a voyeur watching over a couple struggling to keep it together. The premise was that Trisha’s character and my character showed a relationship falling apart while Lauren’s character (the Paramour) watched all of the turmoil in delight. Although the song’s origin was meant for a love song, most videos and directors take on their own concept. As a band we welcomed the idea and I feel it made for an exciting video!” We agree! So without further adieu, Ladies & Gentlemen….

We asked for a “few quotes”, and he came back with this fantasticlly funny insightful piece; sharing the sometimes not so glamorous issues that all go into the making of a music video.

Behind the Scenes of “Paramour”

By: Mathieu Nevitt

It seems like everything this band does lately it’s either cold, snowing or rainy and our video shoot was no different!

The morning started with loading into the ballroom of the Rave in Milwaukee, WI. We need to thank our amazing crew for making this job less taxing on us. Jimbo and Wilson we love ya!

After the hellacious load in up six flights of stairs, I decided to take it upon myself to mop the quarter of the ballroom floor that we would be using. Unbeknownst to me our director Joshua David was planning a silhouette scene of the band, and my efforts may not have been needed. Either way I can always say I mopped that dirty ass floor! Continuing with ignorance, not knowing what Joshua had planned for the scene, the band dressed in our best for a grand-style performance. A tall boom style crane was erected in the center of the floor and Joshua captured some amazing footage.

After finishing the ballroom shots, and wrapping up hundreds of extension cords it was time to move scenes. Luckily we were afforded the luxury of using the freight elevator to move us to the lower level this time. We ended up shooting most of the band performance in the green room we had used for our debut as Dorydrive. We began to gut the room of all its interior and set up shop. The band performance was knocked out within a couple of hours and we started wrapping up all the solo shots of each member.

Joshua had an amazing idea that in the video I would smash a mirror into the wall in rage of what was conflicting between Trisha and me. To make this effect work he baked a couple batches of clear sugar candy that we smashed into fragments with a hammer. I quickly volunteered to be the one who dumped the mass of sugar on top of Joey for the scene of glass falling onto him while performing. Joey is still finding pieces of that candy months later. The band shoot was a success!

The next day was set for b-roll shots for Trisha and me. I was under a time crunch and needed to get rollin’ quickly!

Lauren Kriste

My first shot was the shower scene. The temperature in the Rave was a blistering forty degrees and where I needed to be shooting there was no hot water! The frozen pipes shot painfully frigid water from the shower head. I started to back out, and then I remembered what Joey had endured with the heavy and awkwardly sharp pieces of sugar. So, I took a couple deep breaths and psyched myself up to endure the cold. I remember the water feeling like a million nails being driven into the top of my head. We used a smoke machine to make the shower seem steamy, but there was only freezing water covering my body. We had a towel team to help warm me for each shoot. It was probably a half hour to forty minutes tops to shoot my shower scenes, but it felt like hours!

After smashing multiple mirrors, destroying sheets of drywall and performing all of my solo shots the day was near the end. I caught my train home with ten minutes to spare and Henry sped off to find white tank tops for Trisha. I cannot comment on much of Trisha and Lauren’s b-roll as I wasn’t there to watch, but I can say that they did an amazing job and we are so proud to have them as a part of our video for “Paramour!”

Note: Trisha and Lauren were chosen out of hundreds of fans that sent in Instagram pictures to be cast in the video
