From May 18 to May 20, MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, was rocked by some of the biggest modern rock and metal legends yet. With headliners like Foo Fighters, Disturbed, and System of a Down, it was a show no one could miss.
Sonic Temple has seemingly replaced what was once known as Rock on the Range. So, this was technically this festival’s first year. For it being its debut go around, the staff really did a wonderful job. All the security was helpful and attentive, there was space to roam, music was being played at all times, and many live artists (painters mostly) mesmerizing the crowd.
Sonic Temple had a whooping four stages, all of which had fantastic bands and musicians there to give the people their money’s worth. The best live performance I personally saw was Fever 333.
Fever 333 was literally one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and I can officially now say I am a fan. Front man Jason Aalon Butler ran into the bleachers and sang, surfed the crowd in gear from behind stage, performed in a trash can and utilized the most stage space possible. All of this was done while tackling the topic of diversity, and the band asks the crowd to encourage and celebrate it, while also thanking them for doing so already. Every single fan was engaged, and it stood out by far as one of the best performances at the festival.
Even though the weather delayed activities on Sunday, and resulted in Bring Me the Horizon not performing, it was still a fantastic festival with much attention to detail. The merch was great, the art was spectacular, and that weekend will forever be in those attendees memories.
