Who needs a bass player?! Not Animals As Leaders! The prog-metal trio brought all the low-end necessary via the 2 eight-string guitars played by Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes. Incorporating a broad array of techniques ranging from multi-string finger tapping, to funk-bass style slapping and popping, the dual guitarists in Animals As Leaders manage to cover the entire sonic spectrum. Drummer Matt Garstka’s flawless technique and mastery of odd time signatures adds the necessary cohesion and rhythmic dynamics to the ensemble. Out on tour supporting their upcoming release The Joy of Motion, RockRevolt photographer Thomas Woroniak caught them at Pop’s Nightclub in St. Louis. Support for this evening’s show came from young prog-rockers CHON, followed by the drum and groove styling of Navene K. Direct support on this tour was provided by fellow Sumerian Records recording artists, After The Burial. All of the performances were unique, and together made for a killer evening!
