Blink-182 hits the road this summer with Lil Wayne for a co-headlining tour through North America, with support from pop punk rockers Neck Deep.
The Live Nation tour will kick off in June with dates through September. The tour begins in Columbus with stops through the U.S. and Canada, concluding in Kansas City. Some dates will coincide with Blink-182’s appearances on the Vans Warped Tour 25th anniversary reunion shows.
“Never thought we’d get to say this: We are doing an arena tour in the U.S. all summer long with Blink-182 and Lil Wayne,” Neck Deep said. “Blink is one of the reasons that we got into alternative music and that our band even exists, so to say this is a dream come true is understatement to the max.”
“Being on this tour with Blink is nothing less than a dream come true,” said Ben Barlow, lead singer of Neck Deep. “They were the first band I fell in love with. I’ve seen them live multiple times and been wrapped up in the madness of the crowd. To now be on the other side of that, playing to that crowd… it’s just surreal.
“This is an opportunity we’ve always dreamed of and we’re going to take it by the horns and make the most of every moment. We may have something special up our sleeves for this tour so keep an eye out for that, and we will see you on the road!”
Blink-182 is an American pop punk band that formed in 1992 and was one of the most popular bands during the millennium. The band rose to stardom upon release of third album Enema of the State in 1999 and went on to achieve multiplatinum success, perform arena tours and film cameo appearances in movies such as “American Pie”. Blink-182 released their latest album, California, in July 2016, which earned the band their first nomination for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards.
In an interview with Front Row Live Entertainment, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker talked about a new album in the works, saying it will definitely be out before tour.
“I’ve been doing a bunch of writing in my studio,” said Barker. “We also just worked with Pharrell on the album and with this other producer Futuristics, which is like a team. So it’s kind of anything goes. It’s the same vibe that was going on when we did self-titled, like literally anything goes. And I think we’re creating one of the most important Blink albums so I’m really proud of it.”
Lil Wayne is American rapper and singer that began his career in 1993. His 12th studio album, Tha Carter V, was released recently in 2018 and sold 480,000 copies in its first week, going on to be certified platinum. The five-time Grammy Award winner has sold over 100 million records worldwide making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
The tour announcement comes with a video by Blink-182 and Lil Wayne performing a mashup of their hits, “What’s My Age Again?” and “A Milli.” Watch it below.
Tickets go on sale to the public at Live Nation starting Friday, May 10, 2019, at 12 p.m. EST.
