On Wednesday, May 1st, Beartooth brought their Disease II tour to Birmingham, Alabama!
Opening the show was former Saosin singer, Cove Reber’s new band Dead American. This tour marks Reber’s first time touring in about seven years, he told the crowd. He was met with cheers! They are definitely worth a listen.
Following Dead American, was Australia’s own Hands Like Houses. The band’s singer, Trenton Woodley, referenced the last time they were in Birmingham, which was for 2012’s “Scream It Like You Mean It” tour (which was a damn good time, btw) and how it felt good to be back in a much larger venue. Their performance was probably one of the highlights of the evening especially since the whole front row was screaming lyrics back to them.
Of Mice & Men is always a treat to see live because of their longevity in this music scene. They are always energetic and play from their expansive catalogue, which stretches through numerous genres. Perhaps biggest testament to their performance is crowd control. With a few words, they can have a crowd going insane, whether it be moshing or bending to the ground before controlled chaos ensues.
Beartooth. Sweet sweet Beartooth. They are a prime example of bands getting better with age. Every song, whether it be “Beaten in Lips,” or “Aggressive,” or even “Fire,” or “In Between,” Beartooth constantly evolves in their sound while maintaining an energy on stage that few can bands can rival. This night in Birmingham was no different.
